Interact (International Action) is a service club for young people ages 14-18. Its goals are to develop leadership skills and integrity, demonstrate helpfulness and respect for others, understand the value of individual responsibility and hard work, and advance international understanding and goodwill. Today there are more than 10,900 clubs in 121 countries with an estimated membership of 200,000.
Durham-Great Bay Rotary Club sponsors two Interact Clubs, one at Oyster River High School and one at Newmarket High School. The Interact Club at Oyster River High School in Durham, NH was founded in 1995, and has grown to approximately 35 members. The Club at Newmarket High School in Newmarket, NH was founded this year (2009).
Oyster River High School Interact:
The club has been very active. Over the years, it has raised funds for a hospital in Russia, collected canned food at the annual Trick-or-Treat for Hunger, and worked to support Breast Cancer Awareness fundraisers.
