Program:
James Boulanger, UNH Track and Field Coach
Jim grew up in Dover. This is his 35th year coaching. Jim started his
coaching career at ORHS for the grand salary of $1 a year. He began a women's track and field program in 1975. In 1982 he moved to coaching UNH track and field.
About 60% of his athletes are NH residents. He looks for "untrained" athletes
and stresses to all his team that academics come first. In 1989 Jim became the track and field coordinator for both the men's and women's teams. Today there are 3 full time coaches working under Jim and the teams comprise about 55 men and 65 women.
New facilities include the outdoor track and the renovated indoor Paul Sweet
Oval. UNH now boasts the best track and field facilities in New England. UNH will host the Ameria East Conference for the 3rd time in 8 years.
Jim reviewd a few standouts that include All-Americans Ed McCabe, Randy
Hall and Allison Pool, a Durham resident who held for a short while the world record in intermediate hurdles.
Jim and his coaches have led UNH Track and Field to a long list of
championships.
