Program: Joan Sundberg, Chairwoman, Madbury Board of Selectmen

Don introduced Joan as the junior member of the Madbury governing body, where the idea of term limits is an alien concept.

Joan gave an informative and enthusiastic presentation on the history and future of this community which now numbers seventeen hundred people.  The source of its name is Modbury, England, the ancestral home of Madbury's most prominent farmer at the time of its grant of 1755, Sir Francis Champernowne.

The library is viewed as a community meeting place as well as an active center for learning. The fire and police departments have served to train individuals for careers in other departments throughout New Hampshire.  The sound fiscal policy of establishing set-asides has kept the community out of the bonded debt market.

Madbury has a strong committment to progressive environmental policy that recognizes its responsibilities as a major water source for Dover and Portsmouth.  The preservation of the rural character of Madbury, through town purchase and support of significant conservation easements, is a large part of what makes it a nice place to live.

Megabucks:

Amos won the opportunity to draw but selected the wrong card.
