Treasurer's Report:
Charitable Fund - $4,000 was expended to fund the Egypt project (approx. $3,500 came from last year's budget).
- July 4th grossed $26,500 (about $10,000 under budget). After expenses, the club netted $19,997.
- Obligations include $8,000 for scholarships and $6,000 for 2010 fireworks deposit, leaving a working balance of about $6,000.
Operations - Balance as of 10/31 was $1,554. Several members (about 9) have not been attending meetings and owe dues. Dave vA will contact each and inquire about their intentions.
Bill Wilson Fund has climbed back to about $50,000. It was suggested that an Investment Advisory Committee be formed. The Board will take up that suggestion on Tues.
Policy Review: Ron is collecting and consolidating club policies, resolutions, etc. Please submit to him any that you are aware of.
Grants Committee: Each year, the club receives numerous requests for monetary donations. President Rich has suggested that a committee be formed to review each request and add some formality to the process. The Board will discuss this at Tuesday's meeting.
Meeting Location:The Elliott Alumni Center is not as successful a location as had been hoped. Aside from parking issues, President Rich has been informed that the space is not available on 9 Wednesdays between January and July 2010. As that is unacceptable, other places are being investigated. A show of hands by members indicated a strong majority desired to return to the Three Chimneys Inn. President Rich is in discussions with the Inn and should know soon. Madiha suggested that the Inn wants the business and that we should approach them with a dollar per meal figure and have them come up with a menu.
The Alumni Center is not available for a meeting on Wed Dec 9. It will be determined next week whether a meeting will be held that day at a different location.
Community Service:
Light-up Durham - Pallets will be collected from the MUB and Bayside Distributing for the bonfire. The celebration is Friday, December 4th.
Christmas Turkeys - Bill D will talk with Chuck to see what our cost will be this year for turkeys. Member contributions will be collected next week, Dec 2. There is a significant need this year at the food pantries, so members are encouraged to give generously.
Committee Chair Request - Sean S has asked for members to submit ideas to him for no-cost community projects. It was suggested that we ask next week's speaker, Ed Wojnowski, Newmarket Town Administrator, for any such needs in his town.
New Committe Chairs Required:
Club Service- Deb DeColfmacker has resigned from the Club as she has taken over the office of Edward Jones in Berwick.
Fundraising - After 3 successful years, Scott M has stepped down.
If anyone is interested in being Chair of these important committees, please contact President Rich.
