Team Leader, Shishir, described his district and India as a whole from the standpoint of Rotary membership, the number of clubs and their hopes for contributions to the The Rotary Foundation. He also described family structure and how common it is for multiple generations to live together in one house.
He described the difficulties of Polio immunization of Muslims in his state, but was encouraged by the drop of refusals from 710 families on their first National Immunization Day to 103 on their most recent NID. Their hope is that they will have 100% coverage next year. The non-cooperating Muslims believed that the NID was a western plot to sterilize their children, but with the help of local mullahs, Rotary is making good progress.
Dr Tapre illustrated with colorful slides his description of Hindu festivals and the beliefs of Hinduism, especially the profusion of gods.
Sumita Talegaonkar spoke about her work as a journalist with the Times of India (the largest circulation paper in India), and where India stood economically.
Many good questions were fielded by team members.
They ended their presentation by singing their own National Anthem.
