Program:
Kate Tanguay, Classification Talk.
Kate was born in Westfield, MA, the oldest of three daughters. Her younger sister is in London conpleting her masters degree, and her youngest just graduated from a college in CA where her mother resides.
She was into sports growing up, skiing in high school and running track at Bryant College in RI where she met her husband Dave. She married Dave in 2006 returning to Durham, his hometown.
She's held a succession of jobs as Assistant Manager in an organization helping kids, for a staffing company, later a marketing position for a global company, and, last fall, Edward Jones financial advisors. She will be relocating her office to Durham soon.
She joined Rotary because she was attracted to an organization focused on helping the community.
Allison Neal, Classification Talk.
Allison was born in Gilford and grew up in Berlin with six older brothers. Berlin might have been stinky but it was vibrant and had a nice small-town feel to it.
Allison took her degree at UNH in Hotel and Restaurant Administration and for the next 20 years put it to work in Boston, Princeton, Lake George, San Francisco, and Lake Tahoe. She joined Starbucks just after their IPO and opened the Lake Tahoe/Reno market. From there, Starbucks sent her to Somersworth.
After her daughter Kira was born in 2003, she shifted into the education field as the business manager of Amazing Children, and from there Tutor Doctor. Allison came from a very strong family and has been amazed at the range of support she finds in the families of her students.
Allsion has lived in Barrington with her daughter (who you might have seen helping us clean up the highway) for nine years. She enjoys in-line skating, and skiing.
Rotary is not new to Allison - her father was a Rotarian in Berlin. She has wanted to join Rotary for some time but was looking for the right club. She thinks she has found it in Durham.
Changeover: Rich Whitney to Jud Porter
Rich
The year has been full for him. The economy has played a large part in the fortunes of the club and his business. The signature event for him was moving his 94 year old father from SW NH to the Inn at Spruce Wood. In the process, he has learned patience and what really matters.
And a final quote from Mark Twain: "Few things are harder to put up with than the annoyance of a good example."
President Jud. Presented Rich with a nice wood box with a plaque affixed, and his first pin for the box - the Past President pin.
Megabucks:
Rich had the ticket but couldn't find the card. Pot rolls over.
Upcoming Programs:
Jul 7 Rev. Mary Westfall, Oyster River Teen Center
