Announcements
Pres. Tom: Had 10 members at the first home football game and earned $500 (plus tips!) for our trouble.  A little hectic but a fun night.  A sign-up sheet was circulated for the five remaining home games; he'd like to have 10 members at each one.  Count on 3 1/2 hours.  Next up is Holy Cross on Oct 6th at 1:00 PM.  See Google docs for on-line signup.

Andy: Secured a couple of members for holes in the Bingo calendar.  Remember the shift shift to 5 - 8 PM ... Durham Day is set for Sep 22nd, 12:30 to 3:00 PM at Wagon Hill.  Andy will bring the table, skirt and brochures ... For those with kayaks, there's a Great Bay cleanup scheduled for this Friday from 10 AM to 2 PM; start from Adams Point ... Great Bay Services will be selling our bird seed wreaths on November 3rd if you want to help.

John: We've $10,000 in the Charitable Account.  We have an outstanding loan from the Endowment Fund in the amount of $4,500.  Members approved paying it back at this time.  Andy explained that the Trustees of the Trust Funds in Durham had a Fireworks Fund which had built to $6,300 which they gave to us with the understanding that we would return the principal of $3,600 (the balance was a grant) over a period of three years.  Members approved an immediate payment of $1,200.  Happy Bucks historically have been designated for the Boot and Shoe Fund.  When too much accumulated for that purpose, we agreed to designate future collections through May for the Rotary Foundation's Polio Fund with Happy Bucks contributing $600 and the Charitable Account another $600.   Since we still have sufficient funds earmarked for the Boot and Shoe Fund for this year, it was decided that we would route the weekly collections into the Charitable Account and decide in the Spring for what purpose those funds would be used.

Jud: We have considerable credit at the Rotary Foundation for contributions over the years.  We should consider identifying truly deserving community members for recognition with a Paul Harris Fellowship.

Megabucks: about $84

Is it the truth?  Is it fair to all concerned?  Will it build good will and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
