Announcements
Pres. Tom: There will be no meeting next week, Oct 3rd ... Highway Cleanup is scheduled for the following Wed, Oct 10th.  We'll gather at the truck stop on Rte 4 at 7:30 for coffee and donuts.  Bill will bring safety vests and trash bags.  If you have spreader sticks for the bags, please bring those.  First-timers should spray their cuffs, wear gloves, and consider bringing retriever sticks to accelerate the pickup.  Twelve members can get the job done in an hour ... We have 8 signed up for the ball game with Holy Cross on Sat, Oct 6th; would like 2 more.  Show time is 11:15 for assignments and training; service will start at noon for a 1 PM kickoff ... Local clubs gathered recently to consider an initiative to combat opioid addiction.  The initiative would involve training on the use of Narcan and a grant application for the purchase of Narcan.  More details soon on what it could involve for the club if we decide to get involved ... We have an invitation from the Friends of Hyder House Hospice to a Mystery Dessert fundraiser on Oct 17th from 6 - 8 PM ... A reminder that there is $500 in the budget this year to underwrite a club project brought to us by one of our new members.

Program
Stephanie Douglas brought us her Classification Talk.  Moving around the country is old hat to Stephanie whose dad was in the mining industry and moved the family frequently - Stephanie was never anywhere longer than 8 years and that was in Alaska.

After high school, Stephanie went to Seattle and enrolled in art school but found the work afterward unfulfilling.  What did spark her interest was a temp job working as an assistant to the CFO of a medical company.  She gradually worked herself into more responsibility inside the Swedish Hospital system in Seattle working with patients on the financial side.

When her younger daughter, Savannah, was born with several heart defects, she dropped out of the work force.  During this time Rotary took care of her and her family while she stayed at McDonald House.  After she recovered, Stephanie decided the best thing she could to return the favor was to go headfirst into volunteer service.  Apparently that made an impression because her club gave her a Paul Harris fellowship in recognition.

Stephanie's husband is studying at UNH in connection with his work with NOAA, and Stephanie is looking for a position in the non-profit sector.  She enjoys scuba, painting and sailing.  When asked for her impressions of NH, she thought it was very nice, the drivers are nuts, and the schools are much better.  Welcome - so glad to have you aboard, Stephanie.

Is it the truth?  Is it fair to all concerned?  Will it build good will and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
