Pres. Andy: Presented a check for $2,000 as lead sponsor of Marina's Miles to Rob Drugan and Maura Slavin of Marina's Miles' Board of Directors ... He opened the discussion of the particulars of our obligation re: Bingo: two members each Thursday starting at 4 PM at Seacoast Bingo hall on High St in Somersworth. Tom B called it a commitment. Ric said he'd like the opportunity to take extra shifts to make up for any shortfall he experiences in attracting sponsors for July 4th (he and Heather are splitting the three businesses in Madbury). He also thought that some of us could split a shift with those who had to close up a business and would otherwise find it difficult to make a 4 PM start time. A vote was taken: 16 of 18 voted in favor. This will be a significant fundraiser for the club.
Ric: We're all set for the Channel 11 Auction. We'll be working the first shift with training at 5 PM on Friday, May 4th. Those signed up are: Andy, Ric, Heather, Will, Mark, Jud, Frank R, Ann, Richard S, Russ and Suellen McDonough. We will all be on camera at times answering phones, securing answers for bidders, running bids, sorting bids, posting the boards, etc. so we'll need to wear our Rotary gear.
John: We brought in well over $500 at the Home Show selling Bill's Bluebird houses and birdseed wreaths. Thanks to all who came in to work a shift: Steve, Russ, Tom T, Jud, Ashley, Candace, Heather, Frank R, Ric, Mark, David and Tom B. who created the opportunity ... NHCT 2A's are in for past years now; 2017's is due in to the Charitable Trust Division of the Attorney General's office by May and will be there.
Program
Russ narrated a slide show of his 122 day tour with the Coast Guard in TX and FL doing damage assessment and recovery operations. His team focused on vessels (1300) and hazardous materials (225 containers). The Houston area was a mess after torrential rains of 60" over six days. Key West, on the other hand, was not as hard to take.
