Announcements
Pres. Andy: District will be releasing 32-33 red and white oak 6-12" saplings to us soon, but not in time for Arbor Day.  He asks that member resident in Lee, or Madbury let him know if town fathers would like some; otherwise he will find a spot in Durham and we'll organize a planting party ... There are trails that need work in Durham.  Again, let him know if there are any in Lee or Madbury, and again he'll organize an effort to address ... The Community Action Partners of Strafford County playground project: Dover was hoping to make it a joint project of the three Strafford County Rotary clubs.  Unfortunately, no funds are in our budget.  Friends Forever projects will not require money, and he's looking to continue our working relationship with the Durham office (Ric reminded him that Chuck Goss has offered a 1/2 day at his farm).

John: Went over the balance sheet for Operations and Charitable.  Funds shown included the $4,500 infusion from the Bill Wilson Fund.  There is presently $533 in the Polio Plus account from Happy Bucks.  This will grow to roughly $600 by end year.  It was moved that we add another $600 from the Charitable books and have Frank send that along to the Rotary Foundation to redeem our pledge of $1,200 for this year.  Approved.  We'll do the $1,000 scholarship for Newmarket HS (our sponsorship of Marina's Miles constructively provided for ORHS).  Although John earmarked $225 for a new club banner, it was decided that we would get it dry-cleaned and mended instead.  John noted that there are three applicants for the RYLA camp from Newmarket HS.  We'll be sending one for sure.  There was a suggestion that we use Bingo funds to repay the loan from the Bill Wilson Fund, but it was decided that we would hold off on that until our Fireworks bills were settled.

Heather: Thought that members should be scheduled for such activities as breakfast (twice/yr).  The stakes are higher for Bingo where everyone should share the load (once/qtr).  Generally, the expectation should be that members participate in all projects unless unable to by reason of religious restrictions, physical limitations, or travel schedule for work or pleasure.  One or two others joined in that sentiment.

Tom B: He's thinking of reducing breakfast to coffee at the start of his term.  Frank R moved we stop right after Heather uses her two dozen eggs for next week.  Little discussion.  Approved ... Changeover dinner is being discussed.  Andy is leaning toward pot luck, perhaps at his place ... Suggested we think about participating in Durham's Memorial Day parade.

Will: Brought us up to date on July 4th activities.  New stuff: field to launch from still not nailed down yet (we want Boulder Field for the 6-8" shells); we need to line up a food service operation (two sources discussed); will need to identify a caterer to handle dining in the Victory Lounge and a price for the amenity; a banner needs to be designed and produced, and the date for its installation over Pettee Brook Ln secured; he and Andy will identify the jobs that need to be done so that members can volunteer to undertake, e.g. Volunteer Coordinator.  Pace needs to pick up on securing Sponsors.

Is it the truth?  Is it fair to all concerned?  Will it build good will and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
